How to scan a WuffelTag
Almost every current smartphone can read the WuffelTag – no app needed. Hold your phone to the tag on the collar and the pet’s page opens in the browser.
iPhone
- Unlock your iPhone – the screen has to be on.
- Hold the top edge of the iPhone to the WuffelTag until it almost touches it.
- A notification appears at the top. Tap it – the pet’s page opens.
From the iPhone XS on, the iPhone reads the tag automatically. On an iPhone 7, 8 or X, open Control Center first and tap “NFC Tag Reader” (if it’s missing: Settings → Control Center → add it).
Android
- Turn on NFC: swipe down from the top of the screen and tap “NFC” – or go to Settings → Connections → NFC.
- Unlock the phone and hold the middle of its back to the WuffelTag.
- The pet’s page opens in the browser. If the phone asks for an app, choose your browser.
Where the NFC spot is differs a little between phones (sometimes near the camera). Move the phone slowly over the tag until it vibrates or beeps.
Not working?
- Hold the phone still for 1–2 seconds. Tag and phone must almost touch – NFC only reaches a few centimetres.
- Thick cases, cases with metal or magnetic mounts can get in the way. Take them off for a moment.
- The phone needs internet (Wi-Fi or mobile data) to open the page.
- Very old phones without NFC can’t read the tag. A vet or animal shelter can help then – many pets also have a microchip.
And then?
You’ll see the pet’s name, photo and important notes. With one tap you send the owner a message and, if you like, your location – no sign-up.
